Minutes of IPRCS AGM, Thursday 4 September 2003 1. Attendance at the AGM: about 15. Local organisers, Philip Morrow and Bryan Scotney, were thanked for a very enjoyable IMVIP conference. 2. IMVIP 2004 will be organized by Kenneth Dawson-Howe in TCD. Dates: 1-3 September 2004. Web site: http://www.cs.tcd.ie/IMVIP2004 3. Reports were received from IPRCS Treasurer, Jon Campbell - included healthy balance in the EUR account, with the GBP account now closed, but very few registrations have been paid; IPRCS Secretary, Fionn Murtagh - included web area, and email list; and IPRCS President, Paul Whelan, who mentioned that ICPR'04 will be held in Cambridge (GB), and the IAPR Newsletter is going electronic only. 4. Issue arising from reports: The cost of the IPRCS web area was discussed and it may be decided to go for a cheaper redirection provider. (We pay only for redirecting www.iprcs.org to a CS, QUB, web server.) 5. Following discussion on member subscriptions it was decided to (i) go for personal subs in future rather than team or group ones, and (ii) integrate subs closely with IMVIP conferences, so that - for example - 20 euro extra is taken in at IMVIP which will be the individual membership subscription for the following year. In this way, IMVIP attendance brings the additional benefit of a year's IPRCS membership. Meanwhile individual membership is of course possible independently of IMVIP participation. 6. Noel Murphy raised the issue of CIVR - Conference on Video Retrieval, to be held in DCU on 21-23 July 2004. (The information retrieval event, SIGIR, will be immediately after, in Sheffield.) It was agreed that IPRCS would be a "cooperating" organisation in regard to CIVR. Noel expects to have reduced fees for IPRCS members attending CIVR. 7. The organisers of IMVIP 2003 again produced a nice proceedings volume. Future options for a selection of papers appearing in a journal were discussed, e.g. Image and Vision Computing (Elsevier). IVC had expressed interest in the past, and have special issues arising out of the BMVA's annual conferences. Paul Whelan will check out the status of this with IVC, having consulted with Adam Winstanley. 8. Short courses or tutorials along the lines of what SPIE organise, in conjunction with IMVIP: proposals to Ken Dawson-Howe.
