About the School of Electronic Engineering
The Schools of Electronic Engineering, Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering, and the School of Computing are are the Schools that comprise the Faculty of Engineering and Computing in Dublin City University. Expansion into a wider range of disciplines will be considered by the University as technological development and community needs indicate a requirement for graduates.
The School of Electronic Engineering operates four undergraduate programmes, one combined undergraduate/postgraduate programme, and numerous taught postgraduate programmes, as well as a range of research activities in engineering. The four undergraduate programmes are four-year programmes in: Electronic Engineering, Information and Communications Engineering, Digital Media Engineering and the Common Entry programme. The combined programme is the five-year European programme in Electronic Systems. The taught postgraduate programmes span the two primary subject areas of Electronic Systems and Telecommunications Engineering.
The Schools of Electronic Engineering and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering jointly operate a four-year undergraduate programme in Mechatronics.
Research activities in the School broadly fall under the headings of power electronics, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing and intelligent systems. More details are to be found in the list of research activities and involvement of the individual academic staff members.
