Optical wavefront sensing and correction.
Optical wavefront sensing and correction.
Using multiple lenslets mounted over an imaging device
it is possible to sense distortions in an optical wavefront
from a remote object. Approximately 80% of this distortion
can be corrected using a simple "tip-and-tilt" mechanism to
give a clearer image of the object, especially if the object
or light source is faint and the image needs to be integrated
over time. This project is about building a simple wavefront
sensor and two-axis actuator to correct gross wavefront distortions.
