Computer-controlled astronomical telescope drive system.
An 8-inch astronomical telescope with a two-axis equatorial mount
capable of taking motor drives is available as a platform for this project.
The project will involve the specification, mounting and control of
suitable stepper-motors to drive the telescope, including anti-backlash measures.
The electronics for driving and computer-interfacing the motors will have
to be designed and built and it is intended that this project would interface
with another project in ME, EE or CA involving the web-interfacing of the system.
